MARC, on behalf of the Water Quality Public Education Committee annually requests proposals from individuals and community groups to implement educational activities, events or projects designed to promote actions that will improve water quality in the Kansas City area. The Committee wants to continue its focus on educating citizens about stormwater as a primary source of water pollution and about actions that individuals can take to reduce the amount of polluted stormwater that enters our lakes, rivers and streams. Grant Program Objectives This grant program is designed to improve public understanding about the negative impact that stormwater runoff has on our local rivers and streams. The grants allow community groups to develop their own educational activities, host events and help planned projects become a reality. The call for applications takes place every spring. Nonprofit organizations and community groups are eligible to apply for grant funding under this program. Government entities are not eligible to apply.

• Bridging The Gap ($5,000): Bridging The Gap will coordinate volunteers and conduct stream cleanups on five local waterways in close proximity to highways and/or retail centers. • Clement Waters Headquarters Green Space Project ($2,000): Volunteers will build a bench along an established trail, and create new trails leading to a hilltop outdoor classroom with gardens and educational resources.
